Whisky Sour

I'm sure many of you were hoping for a more seasonal recipe, perhaps something you can cook for thanksgiving dinner. But this recipe will come in handy this long weekend, don't you worry.
When you're family is fighting, and the turkey's too dry, and your guests are being picky, and there's not enough food; have one of these.

In fact make some for your guests too (so they'll stop fighting and complaining, and maybe they won't even notice anything that went wrong with dinner) and be prepared to be bombarded with compliments.

My husband is quite the beverage connoisseur, and this year he became infatuated with bourbon.
I think it's safe to say that Mad Men (namely Don Draper) is to blame, but who really wants to start laying blame when we could be drinking a an old fashioned cocktail?

This recipe is for one double cocktail, but we sometimes split it between two glasses.

1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 ounces of bourbon (we like Makers Mark, or Bulliet)
juice of one lime
juice of one lemon
ice

In the bottom of a martini shaker, add sugar, and citrus juices, and stir to dissolve, about 30 seconds.
Add 1 ice cube, and 1/2 ounce of bourbon, and stir for 30 seconds.
Add 2 ice cubes and 1 ounce of bourbon, stir for 30 seconds.
Add 1/2 ounce of bourbon, stir for 30 seconds*.

Strain into highball glass with a few ice cubes.

*You may be laughing at these elaborate steps, but trust me, this man knows his cocktails. It's worth it.Pin It
